"3 Days/60 Miles" Walk With Susan From Kenosha to Chicago - Donate & Share the Dream

* I dedicate this page to you, my sponsors - without you, I could not do this. Please come here often to be updated on my training and fundraising progress, and to read about the women for whom we walk.

* On June 14, 15, and 16, 2002, I will walk from Kenosha to Chicago (60 miles) in three days to raise public awareness of, and money for the fight against breast cancer

* Along with 7000 other walkers, and as part of a 40 member Get With the Program team (thank you Erin Smith, our team captain!), I will be living in a tent village, showering in a truck, and having the experience of a lifetime

* As part of my commitment to the walk, I will raise $3000.00 for breast cancer treatment and research by May 17, 2002

* The mission of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to fund access to care and find a cure for breast cancer.

* Breast cancer touches the lives of most people. I am walking to help real people! Won't you please help. Some of my sponsors have shared stories of important people in their lives who have suffered from breast cancer. Some of these stories are included in the photos section. Some follow:

Kim in Texas: I do have two people's names I wanted to pass onto you. One, Linda S.,has been a friend of mine for 32 years. She was 32 years old, married with two children aged 4 and 6 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had an immediate mastectomy but it was not caught soon enough. It had spead to become bone cancer in her spine. She had a stem cell transplant and has now been cancer free for 4 years. Thankfully, she has had this extra time with her family and we feel so blessed to still have her with us.

The other name is Mary K. She was my next door neighbor growing up all my life. She succumbed to breast cancer many years ago but I think of her very often. She is the person who taught me what true faith in God is all about. She was a true woman of Grace in the truly biblical sense of the word and I will always be indebted to her for how she has profoundly affected my life as well as so many others!

* These women were challenged in ways that I can only imagine. My personal challenge is to become trained for this walk and physically fit. I am working hard to get this sedentary body ready for the walk. I am determined to finish this walk!
